What can you tell me about the Cabana Bay Beach Resort (CBBR)?
“A simpler time.”
That statement pretty much sums up CBBR’s theme. With a retro mid-century look and feel, CBBR brings you back to a simpler time. Designed after the hotels and motels along the infamous Route 66, you are immersed in the nostalgia of the 50’s and 60’s. Bright colors, VO5 shampoo, Zest Soap and even Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer in a brown paper bag bring us back to an age of innocence, patriotism and family vacations in the Vista Cruiser. With 2 huge pools that include a water-slide, a lazy river, water play area and fire pits for S’mores making, you cannot help but feel the happy vibes the resort gives off. While it is considered a value resort, this is one heck of a value!

In 2017, 2 new towers, with 400 additional will open. These rooms will be located at the south end of the property near the Continental and Americana Towers. Some of these rooms will have the most amazing views of Universal’s Volcano Bay (opening as well in 2017).

Do I get UNIVERSAL EXPRESS PASS and Early Entry to Universal Orlando®  by staying here?
CBBR does not participate in UNIVERSAL EXPRESS PASS, but does allow you Early Park Admission to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter , giving you admission to the park one hour before it opens to the general public.

Are there smoking and nonsmoking rooms?
Unlike the 50’s and 60’s, all rooms are non-smoking.

What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in time: 4:00 pm. Check-out time: 11:00 am. Guests who arrive early will be given a room key for early entry and charging privileges within the resort and parks while their room becomes available

Is there a specific age you need to be to reserve a room?
The minimum age requirements to check-in to a Universal Orlando Resort onsite property is 21 years. Driver’s license and major credit card for incidentals are required at time of check in.

The regular wireless access is complimentary for up to 4 devices per room for a 24-hour period. It is adequate for surfing the web and checking email.

Premium Plus wireless access is $14.95 for up to 8 devices per room/24-hour in case you want to stream music, videos, use VPN or transfer large files for work or play

What can you tell me about the pools?
The North Courtyard Cabana Pool is a 10,000 square-foot zero-entry pool pool with a water slide. There is an interactive kid’s play area, private cabanas (fee) and the Atomic Tonic pool bar for your thirst quenching needs. The water slide is child friendly and curves through the pool’s signature diving tower, reminiscent of the diving towers/platforms of the 1950s (before lawsuits put the kibosh on them). In front of the Castaway building are 17 private wood-framed cabanas, each containing a flat screen TV, refrigerator and cooling fan. The cabanas can be rented in 24-hour segments, with pizza and beverage delivery available.

The South Courtyard is home to the. Lazy River Pool – A zero-entry 9,000 sq.ft pool with sand beach, a lazy river with waterfalls and water cannons for targeting your friends floating in said Lazy River. The Hideaway Bar & Grill has your cold drinks of any caliber and food to satiate your appetite. You can bring your own floats for the Lazy River, buy one there (about $7-$15), use one of the life vests, or just go commando without a float. If you buy or bring your own, they will inflate them for you at the float hut.

Pool are heated and hours vary, but are usually 8am to 11pm (they will close the pool if it’s below 40 degrees)

Both pools offer a variety of activities, including hula-hoop contests, splash contests, ping pong, corn hole and poolside movies. Check with the front desk for an activity sheet that will also list the dive-in movies for your stay.

How can I rent a cabana?
In front of the Castaway building are 17 private wood-framed cabanas that you can rent.  Each cabana fits up to a maximum of 10 people and comes equipped with a table with 4 chairs, 2 lounge chairs, safe, flat screen TV, refrigerator with water and cooling fan. The cabanas can be rented in 24-hour segments, with pizza and beverage delivery available from 11am to midnight. Prices range from $100-$150 per day.

If you have more than 10 people you need to have 2 rooms to rent 2 cabanas, or you can rent a Pavilion for $250 from event services. The pavilion will hold 40 and you need to order all food from catering. Other than cake, no outside food is allowed. Event service flyer is here <INSERT> but may not be the most updated copy. There are no childcare facilities at CBBR. There are kids camps at the Portofino, Hard Rock Hotel and Royal Pacific you may be able to use.  For toilet trained kids for children ages 4-14, these are run by Kids Night Out are a supervised kids’ camp that is open 5:00 pm – 11:30 pm, Sunday through Thursday and from 5:00 pm to midnight, Fridays and Saturdays. From the Kids Night Out website: “Each caregiver is thoroughly assessed with an application process, interviews, background checks, and reference checks. Equally as prioritized, the caregiver must fully comprehend child safety, know what children like in order to have fun, and genuinely love children. Once approved, each caregiver goes through specialized Kid’s Nite Out training and Disney Orientation. All services are followed through with stringent security procedures.” Current costs are $15 per hour per child. If you wish them to provide a meal it is an additional $15 per child. You would need to contact Kids Night Out to reserve space in one of the hotels camps.

Kids Night Out will also provide private in room babysitting as well. For information & reservations: 407-503-1200 http://kidsniteout.com/kids_camps.html (hours, location and pricing subject to change)

What are my transportation options to the Parks, Citywalk and other resorts?
CBBR has complimentary shuttle service (that plays 50’s and 60’s music) to the Transportation Hub at CityWalk. The aquamarine retro style buses run very frequently and I have never had to wait long for one. If you wish to go resort to resort, you can take the CBBR bus to the hub and transfer to the next hotels shuttle there. All UOR resort buses drop off/pick up at the hub. If you are switching resort (staying at 2 hotels during one stay) and have luggage a cab to the next resort would be less than $10 on average and easier, but you can use the transfer at the hub option as well. I just would not try to do it during a really busy “get to the parks” time.

Universal’s Hotel Dining Shuttle – Beginning at 6:00pm and ending at 10:00pm a 10 passenger shuttle runs every 30 minutes providing free transportation between on-site hotels. Reservations can be made with your hotel concierge or by calling 407-503-DINE. Make sure you give yourself at least 15 minutes extra time to arrive at your resort restaurant.

Can I walk to the Parks or CityWalk?
The walk to the theme parks and CityWalk is ~ 20 minutes.

I am staying at 2 different Universal Hotels. Will they transfer my luggage?
There is no complimentary transfer service at CBBR.  A cab runs about $10 and is your easiest option. You can also take the CBBR bus to the Transportation Hub at CityWalk and transfer to the RPR, HRH or PBR buses there.

What shopping is at the resort?
Universal Orlando Resort Store –Offers sundries, guest necessities, newspapers, magazines, etc., as well as Universal and Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort logo merchandise.

Are there running trails?
Whether you walk, jog or run, there are safe running trails. Stop by the hotel’s front desk upon your arrival and ask. The paths extend throughout the rest of Universal Orlando Resort as well.
