Loews Royal Pacific Resort
Royal Pacific Steamship Lines –
The Loews Royal Pacific story begins at the twilight of an era known romantically as the Golden Age of Travel. There was and is a certain romance to the South Seas, with its Isles of Enchantment, that has attracted many adventurous travelers and inspired more than a few. Many steamship companies vied for the coveted orient and Pacific routes including the Royal Pacific Steamship lines. The Royal Pacific Steamships carried tea and rubber planters, colonial high commissioners, spice merchants, writers, and adventurous travelers to the exotic destinations of Asia Pacific.
Royal Pacific Airways –
In the Mid-30’s, the Majestic China Clippers came into service, prompting Clare Boothe Luce to say, “Someday a clipper flight will be remembered as the most romantic voyage in history.” They were definitely the most romantic planes ever. For a world coming out of economic depression, the majestic flying boats symbolized not only elegance and luxury, but adventure and romance to a degree not equaled since. Royal Pacific saw the future and purchased fleets of these flying boats for their own. Thus began Royal Pacific Airways, island hopping from the states to Asia Pacific in only 5 days! Royal Pacific Airways flying boats combined with the luxury Royal Pacific Liners in a unique combined service to connect North America with the Exotic Isles of the South Pacific.
